Very much inspired by a folk tale surrounding the neolithic standing stones at the Somerset village of Stanton Drew. The story has devil visiting Stanton Drew in disguise and making merry with his fiddle so awesomely that the villagers fail to notice they’ve continued to party beyond midnight into holy Sunday, and were promptly turned to stone for their blasphemy. I’ve depicted the guy having shed his disguise (human mask purchased from the pedlar in my previous lino print) and continuing to fiddle just for the heck of it...
